Slender: A Reaction Video

Dear Chlorine,
Just so you know, I am writing this when you are 1.5 years old (555 days to be exact). By the time you’re able to read this, you’ll have probably known that I like playing video games and I like playing them with friends, brothers, your mother, and most probably even you. I like sharing gaming experiences, and I actually enjoy playing games while someone is watching (ask Mommy how many times I forced her to watch me play). A lot of times these experiences get posted to Facebook, or Twitter, or Google+. By the time you’re reading this, though, Social Networking might have become obsolete (who knows?). And besides, they’re too cluttered with other posts such as check-ins, vacation photos, and many more.
So I decided to compile these gaming experiences into one blog, so that one day I get to share them with you, and so that as I play these games right now while you’re still a baby, I can play them as if I’m already showing them to a grown-up you.
In fact, I’ve taken the liberty to give you a temporary gaming nickname – Chlorine. Feel free to change it when you’re old enough.
The world is a scary place, but sometimes, we just have to face our fears.

Video games are no exception, in fact, some of the best teaches us to face our fears. These so-called “survival horror” games are just like what its genre’s name implies, it’s scary and the only way to win is to survive.

One of the more popular horror games in recent times is an Indie game called “Slender: The Eight Pages”. The gameplay and setting is simple enough, you’re in the middle of the woods and you need to collect eight pages, all while trying to avoid a stalker known only as the Slender Man, to win the game.

The Slender Man appears out of nowhere. It usually creeps up behind you, but it can teleport anywhere and loves showing up after tight corners just to startle you. The overall setting is very dark, and your flashlight has limited battery power, and of course, once the Slender Man catches you, it’s game over.

The question is, can you find the eight pages before the Slender Man finds you?

This game became somewhat of a YouTube sensation because of people posting their reaction videos while playing the game.

To join the fun, your Uncles Jason and Kevin decided to make their reaction videos, and I thought I could share snippets with you. First is Uncle Jason.

I don’t know if you’ll grow up able to speak Waray fluently, so I did the honor of putting subtitles in this video.

As you can see,
Turn fear into fun and anything becomes a classic.
Why didn’t I make one myself, you ask? Actually I did but it was nowhere near as good as these takes, so I decided to delete them. Don’t worry, I’m planning to make a few with other games (I have Amnesia and Dead Space 3 in mind) exclusively for this blog, so you’ll see me scared out of my mind soon enough.

Also, I’ll be posting Uncle Kevin’s video soon, probably by next week.
